Using TI parts, our team has come together to create a demonstration of the power of the CC2650 Sensor Tag, Bluetooth Low Energy, and the BeagleBone Black. Simply attaching the SensorTag to your coffee cup, the sensor will transmit data about your coffee including: ambient temperature and IR object temperature. This data will then be processed through the BeagleBone and presented in a user friendly display. The BeagleBone will also notify the user via LED and buzzer sound that the coffee is at a safe, drinkable temperature.
The presentation below explains the project and the parts used.
Profiles: One aspect of our program is that it has profiles already loaded for most users that don't necessarily know what temperature they like their drink at. This means that while starting the program it will ask the user at which level of comfort they prefer.
