  • [00:18:21] <JamesJRH> 2015-06-04Thu10:18:49 < JamesJRH> I'll try it later when I next restart my laptop and let you / this channel know if it works.
  • [00:19:33] <JamesJRH> tbr: I tried using g_mass_storage on my BeagleBone Black and didn't manage to get it to work.
  • [00:21:47] <JamesJRH> I tried this command:
  • [00:21:50] <JamesJRH> modprobe --first-time g_mass_storage removable=1 ro=1 cdrom=1 file=/home/debian/GNU+Linux\ ISOs/nixos-graphical-15.06pre62649.f93a8ee-x86_64-linux.iso
  • [00:22:13] <JamesJRH> And variants, with or without the various options.
  • [00:23:47] <JamesJRH> I think at first it conflicted with g_multi, so I tried to unload that but it wouldn't let me because it was “in use”, even if there was nothing plugged-in.
  • [00:24:06] <JamesJRH> So I blacklisted g_multi and rebooted.
  • [00:24:21] <JamesJRH> Then I ran into more problems.
  • [00:26:54] <JamesJRH> There was a simple error that was due to mistyping one of the parameters, but after fixing that I got to where I am now:
  • [00:27:49] <JamesJRH> With g_multi not loaded, for the above command I now get:
  • [00:27:56] <JamesJRH> ERROR: could not insert 'g_mass_storage': No such device
  • [00:28:42] <JamesJRH> This happens with or without the USB connection plugged-in.
  • [00:30:14] <JamesJRH> Even just this on its own gives that very same error:
  • [00:30:32] <JamesJRH> modprobe --first-time g_mass_storage
  • [00:31:29] <JamesJRH> Why won't it load? What is the device that it's looking for?
  • [00:32:37] <JamesJRH> Does it mean the USB host or something to do with the block device that I'm trying to emulate? (Or not, in the case of the latter command.)

  • [00:46:24] <JamesJRH> 09:45:30 < tbr> yeah, although if the kernel version differs, some options might be different ← Btw., after having run ‘modinfo g_mass_storage’ from the BBB, I see that all of the main options are the same – only ‘num_buffers’ is not present on the newer version in NixOS.
  • [00:47:20] <JamesJRH> 2015-06-04Thu
  • [00:49:48] <JamesJRH> All of the main 1s that I used, removable, ro, cdrom, and file, are supported by both versions.

  • [00:54:46] <JamesJRH> So I presume that ‘num_buffers’ got removed for some reason.
  • [00:55:23] <JamesJRH> Anyway, the above commands don't work.
  • [00:55:33] <JamesJRH> How do I get this to work?
