  • [07:42:22] * karim is now known as Guest15963
  • [07:42:38] <SeanMark> hiiiii
  • [07:42:43] <Guest15963> hii
  • [07:42:53] <Guest15963> i just got beaglebone yesterday
  • [07:43:01] <Guest15963> and i am having lots of troubles to get started
  • [07:43:40] <Guest15963> anyone there ?
  • [07:43:49] <av500> yes
  • [07:43:58] <Guest15963> so i have ubuntu
  • [07:44:02] <Guest15963> on my laptop
  • [07:44:08] <Guest15963> tried to do it didn't work
  • [07:44:15] <av500> what didnt work?
  • [07:44:20] <Guest15963> so i switched to windows ( i have dual boot )
  • [07:44:23] <Guest15963> i mean
  • [07:44:30] <Guest15963> bbb wouldn't start
  • [07:44:36] <Guest15963> i tried 1000 different things
  • [07:44:40] <Guest15963> and it wouldn't start
  • [07:45:01] <av500> LEDs not blinking?
  • [07:45:07] <Guest15963> then i went to windows and installed the drivers and still didn't start so i thought maybe i have to install angstrom
  • [07:45:10] <Guest15963> on a mirco sd
  • [07:45:17] <Guest15963> did that and still didn't start ?
  • [07:45:29] <Guest15963> it's blinking normal like it should be
  • [07:45:42] <av500> so, what does not start?
  • [07:45:44] <Guest15963> but when i go to http:192.168.7.2
  • [07:45:48] <Guest15963> can't connect
  • [07:45:50] <Guest15963> and ssh
  • [07:45:59] <Guest15963> doesn't work also from ubuntu
  • [07:46:03] <av500> ic
  • [07:46:05] <Guest15963> i mean i can
  • [07:46:17] <Guest15963> i can't connect to beaglebone black :(
  • [07:46:22] <av500> ah
  • [07:46:52] <ccbb> Guest15594, i guess that you put micro sd card already
  • [07:46:59] <Guest15963> yes
  • [07:47:09] <Guest15963> i think the problem might be with the ip address
  • [07:47:13] <Guest15963> 192.168.7.2
  • [07:47:14] <ccbb> you should remove it first
  • [07:47:23] <Guest15963> maybe it's not that anymore ?
  • [07:47:28] <Guest15963> for some reason
  • [07:47:29] <av500> when the beagle starts, do you see anything in "dmesg" on ubuntu?
  • [07:47:41] <Guest15963> no
  • [07:47:46] <Guest15963> i am on windows at the moment
  • [07:48:08] <av500> easier to debug in ubuntu
  • [07:48:12] <ccbb> Guest15594, i got bbb just few days ago, and i put an sdcard in it
  • [07:48:21] <ccbb> then i can boot
  • [07:48:26] <ccbb> *cannot
  • [07:48:32] <Guest15963> ohhhh
  • [07:48:37] <Guest15963> :(
  • [07:48:43] <Guest15963> the problem now is that at first
  • [07:48:50] <Guest15963> it was blinking without the mircosd
  • [07:48:51] <ccbb> i think it's boot order problem
  • [07:48:58] <Guest15963> but when i installed angstrom on them mircosd
  • [07:49:08] <Guest15963> then it wouldn't blink without the microsd ?
  • [07:49:15] <av500> you dont need the microsd
  • [07:49:22] <av500> it comes with angstrom out of the box
  • [07:49:26] <Guest15963> ok
  • [07:49:27] <ccbb> bbb has 2gb flash memory
  • [07:49:31] <av500> remove everything and unplug and plug usb again
  • [07:49:36] <Guest15963> so i wok
  • [07:49:40] <Guest15963> ok *
  • [07:49:44] <av500> and then observe dmesg in ubuntu
  • [07:49:50] <av500> you should see something happening

  • [13:25:17] <sirjorj> I'm using my BBB with the debian image from the official site. The BBB is being used as a monitor, listening to kernel messages from another linux box via serial port (cat /dev/ttyO0) and printing them to a monitor via hdmi. Every so often, the hdmi goes to sleep and i have to press a button on the keyboard to wake it up again. Is there a way to disable this sleep/screen saver feature?
  • [13:26:51] <jkridner> sirjorj: have you tried using 'setterm -blank 0'?

I managed to run the examples provided by Ti with the dtbo in question. But i don't understand the pinmuxing. The fragment for pinmux seems to set the mode for the same pin twice with different values. Can someone explain? File in question is 'BB-BONE-PRU-01-00A0.dtbo'.
