[00:05:49] <jkridner> k, that was not fun.
[00:06:04] <jkridner> yikes, that as 25 minutes!
[00:06:19] <jkridner> I think I was down for about 15 of those 25.
[00:06:25] <jkridner> not good.
[00:14:41] <jkridner> *sigh* lots of bugs in the new site as well.
[00:15:13] <jkridner> I wanted to get some of the backend updates live given that appearance updates will be coming this week.
[00:15:33] <jkridner> and, I didn't want to get too far out of sync.

[15:00:27] <richardw> sakoman, I was just scanning recent irc logs, and see you were running into some x-load build dependencies. The history of the linkage was simple. The person who started x-loader did strip down a u-boot and made it work. There first versions made some assumpitons about matched timing settings with u-boot (dpll & memory). x-loader does some init and u-boot does some more. early on many bugs coming in where u-boot changes were made which
[15:00:27] <richardw> were not reflected in x-load. the quick fix of that was to share the critical header files, they must be build and executed as a pair anyway. Probably the best soultion (which can happen for 1nand today in mainline from denx) is to just alter u-boot to generate an x-loader from the same source.

[15:25:24] <sakoman_> mib_quif: I haven't yet seen any instructions on how to do an mmc boot with the EVM. Hopefully someone else here has put something together.
[15:25:58] <sakoman_> Otherwise you might have to use the serial or usb peripheral boot tools that ship with the EVM sdk
[15:27:34] <mib_quif> they dont work for me - every time i get the same message; "Invalid Asic ID. Please reset the EVM and try again"
[15:29:35] <mib_quif> i suspect it could be an issue with uart1. it was working all right. all of a sudden - minicom displaced junk characters and am not able to use the board again

[23:03:37] <paul_pwsan> hello Crofton|work
[23:04:27] <paul_pwsan> not sure if you are around, but hopefully you'll catch this in the irc logs if not --
[23:05:07] <paul_pwsan> regarding the kernel warnings that you get with audio on the TI/Beagle/WTBU kernel 2.6.22,
[23:05:08] <mru> hi guys
[23:05:17] <mru> back from wolverhampton
[23:05:27] <paul_pwsan> looks like this may be pertinent: someone from TI reported the same thing in May withttp://www.spinics.net/lists/alsa-devel/msg14272.htmlh EVM:
[23:05:30] <paul_pwsan> er
[23:05:34] <paul_pwsan> with EVM: http://www.spinics.net/lists/alsa-devel/msg14272.html
[23:05:37] <paul_pwsan> hi mru
[23:05:57] <paul_pwsan> Crofton|work: and ALSA hackers posted a patch here for it: http://www.spinics.net/lists/alsa-devel/msg14273.html
[23:06:43] <paul_pwsan> hopefully it is not a problem any more with linux-omap git head and Jarkko's ASoC driver
[23:07:58] <sakoman_> paul_pwsan: has Jarkko done an asoc driver for the evm?
[23:08:17] <sakoman_> I wasn't aware of that or I wouldn't have been working on one!
[23:09:28] <paul_pwsan> sakoman_: heh, maybe it is your ASoC driver I am thinking of... Jarkko posted some ASoC driver to linux-omap on 25 March
[23:09:50] <paul_pwsan> will post link in a sec
[23:10:03] <sakoman_> I was hoping to get out of some work!
[23:10:32] <paul_pwsan> heh
[23:10:44] <paul_pwsan> here's a followup msg from April from Jarkko: http://www.spinics.net/lists/alsa-devel/msg13441.html
[23:10:45] <sakoman_> Mine is here: http://www.sakoman.net/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=linux-omap-2.6.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/omap3
[23:11:23] <paul_pwsan> looks like Jarkko's patch is for N810 - not sure if it works on OMAP3
[23:12:28] <sakoman_> paul_pwsan: yes, I use his mcbsp stuff
[23:12:35] <paul_pwsan> cool
[23:12:48] <paul_pwsan> so then, no duplication of effort :-) it is your driver I am thinking of, then
[23:13:03] <sakoman_> but the 810 uses a different codec, so I had to do an asoc 4030 codec driver from scratch
[23:13:18] <paul_pwsan> makes sense... no aic23
[23:13:59] <sakoman_> thanks for the i2c patches! things are *muc* more stable for me on the beagle now
[23:14:04] <sakoman_> much
[23:14:18] <paul_pwsan> sakoman_: no problem, that's really great to hear
[23:14:26] <paul_pwsan> seems to work much better on my side too
[23:14:44] <sakoman_> I pushed your patches to my kernel git
[23:14:57] <paul_pwsan> just saw that :-)
[23:15:23] <sakoman_> I'm working on 3 different omap3 boards now, only way I can maintain my sanity with patches
[23:15:25] <paul_pwsan> may do a second rev taking into account Peter's comments from l-o list
[23:15:38] <sakoman_> I'd be happy to test them
[23:16:01] <paul_pwsan> cool, that will be much appreciated
[23:16:54] <sakoman_> I figure I will push your patches that have functional improvements, but wait for Tony to do the warning removal patches
[23:17:07] <sakoman_> less work ;-)
[23:17:15] <paul_pwsan> makes sense... those have been sitting around for a while and should not affect functionality at all
[23:18:52] <sakoman_> I'm debating doing Rajendra's cpuidle patches
[23:19:47] <paul_pwsan> yeah, i need to spend some time with those here
[23:19:47] <sakoman_> worried about destabilizing things again!
[23:20:20] <sakoman_> In the midst of board bringup and don't want to rock the boat too much
[23:20:44] <paul_pwsan> yeah, you might want to hold off on the new PM stuff at this particular moment
[23:21:06] <paul_pwsan> unless you start feeling more adventurous :-)
[23:24:27] <sakoman_> I'll feel more adventurous once I see "Texas Instruments X-Loader 1.41" after a serial peripheral boot
[23:27:45] <paul_pwsan> heh
[23:32:21] <sakoman_> right now it just feels like I'm pumping code into a black hole :-(
[23:34:55] <paul_pwsan> it will be good to get jtag up and running. i have a flyswatter here but have not yet hacked up the right type of cable for it.
[23:37:20] <paul_pwsan> hopefully that will help track down some of these boot issues
[23:39:56] <paul_pwsan> btw steve, thanks for all your help talking through some of those i2c issues last week. it really helped
